Avi Loeb, recently appointed to serve as an advisor on UFO matters to Trump, said that intelligent extraterrestrials would likely have little interest in who occupies the presidency or in the political affiliations of any particular world leader.

Speaking to AlterNet, Loeb said that if a visitor arrived from interstellar space, understanding how humans have divided territory on Earth into nations would be a very low priority for them. He said such visitors would not be concerned with the United States specifically or with who holds its presidency.

Despite that, Loeb maintained that contact between extraterrestrials and the White House would rank among the most significant and defining moments in American history. He said that for any sitting president, learning during their term that humanity is not alone in the universe would be a great boon.

Loeb further stated that the discovery of extraterrestrial life would be a major finding capable of shaping the future of humanity.
